Allison LeAnn Design originated in 2010... the year I graduated college Morehead State University AND the same year I got married! So here is how the story goes....
While in my last semester at MSU, my two roommates and I went to the "Graduation Fair" to place our orders for cap and gowns, tassels, "Class of 2010" merchandise, and graduation invitations. After seeing the prices on the not so cute invites, I hesitated and just couldn't bring myself to pay THAT much for something that wasn't that pretty AND that I had to give away. Considering I was graduating in May with a Communications Degree with emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations and a minor in Graphic Design, I quickly decided I could probably put my design skills to use and create something super fun (yet classy) and WAY cuter and hopefully save a few dollars. And that I did! I designed some super cute blue and gold invites and had them professionally printed. When they arrived in the mail, my roommates decided they loved them too, so I designed a set for them.. and a set for my roommate's boyfriend from another college. After I posted a pic of ours and his on facebook, some of our high school friends from other colleges wanted me to design theirs too! Within a few weeks, I ended up creating 10 sets for 4 different colleges, meaning I saved 10 of our friends (plus us!) a bunch of money AND we all ended up with super cute graduation invitations!
During this same time period in 2010, our family planned THREE weddings in about SIX months! A week after I graduated, my sister Caitlin married her high school sweetheart Mark in a classy ceremony in their school colors (Black & Red) in May 2010. In June, my boyfriend (aka: my hubby Jay) proposed and we said "I Do" in late September 2010 during a purple and teal jewel toned ceremony and a fun peacock themed reception. Jay's sister Dianna married her college boyfriend Nick during their November 2010 fall themed wedding. From household showers and bridal showers to weddings and honeymoons, it was like WEDDING CENTRAL 24/7 in the Stanley/Goble households! Once again I broke out my design skills and whipped up some lovely shower games and printables, wedding invitations and RSVPs, ceremony programs, banners, favor tags, and just about anything and everything else wedding related! Once "word" got out that I had done all that for us Brides (well, Grooms too!), it was the same chain reaction as with the graduation invitations. I ended up doing some invitations for some close friends, then their siblings and friends, and then those peoples bridesmaids and friends, and it trickles down from there... and the "word-of-mouth" referrals is still continuing today.
So now here I am... I turned all those important life events into design opportunities and that transformed into something I LOVE and now enjoy way too much!!! In January of 2012, Allison LeAnn Design transitioned from being a hobby to an official business! Although I now have a full-time job as the Director of Marketing at a community and technical college (I LOVE the wonderful world of education!), I spend my free time during the evenings and weekends developing custom and personalized designs for brides and businesses who want affordable AND lovely designs, and I couldn't be any happier!
